On July 4th, 2015, to mark the 50th anniversary of Professor Sant Teja Singh’s passing, in an initiative supported by 8 different Sikh organizations, approximately 100 high school students spent the day on a bus tour from Abbotsford, to New Westminster, to Vancouver, where they learned about sites of historical significance to the Sikh and South Asian community in Canada. Each stop was hosted by one of the guest speakers which included community historians, educators, and community elders. The day-long trip began at the historic Gur Sikh Temple in Abbotsford and was capped off at the Komagata Maru Memorial at Harbour Green Park in Downtown Vancouver.
